i like going to the movies...

during the past year and a half of snapshots of san francisco, i've covered two different movie adventures... one (the san francisco international film festival at the castro theater) was very san francisco, and the other (the drive-in) was at least a little different. this week you get a good ol' average trip to the movies. the empire theater is pretty basic, but i happen to like it (when the movie i'm seeing is in the big theater at least), partly 'cause i like the neighborhood it's in. west portal it's a relatively small neighborhood, tucked near twin peaks but sort of in the sunset district. it's got a cool diner, an old woolworth's, coffee shops, bars, and produce markets. i looked through a couple of books to give you a little history of the area, but nada... if i dig something up i'll post it later...

i'm not saying which one i saw...

video games in the lobby to kill time
(and spend more money) before the movie...
he won, but she laughed harder...

jalepenos but no coffee?...
(at least they let me bring in a
"to go" cup from across the street)...

this is just before the movie started...
kinda sad for a 9:15 movie on a thursday night...
